  • Tony Root - Director/Operations Manager

    Tony joined KRBS in 1993 as an apprentice carpenter, and with decades of residential construction experience under his belt Tony has moved through the ranks and now heads up the company. He is passionate about creating an exceptional experience so that our clients are not only delighted with their bespoke homes but have enjoyed the collaboration process so much that many of them are keen to do it again! Having grown up in Avalon, Tony’s favourite way to relax with his family is to go boating on Pittwater.

  • Matthew Root - Site Manager

    This is Mat. With a career spanning more than 30 years with KRBS, it’s the depth of his experience, his passion for building beautiful homes  and pragmatic approach to problem-solving that set Mat apart as a site manager. In his spare time, Mat enjoys boating as well as working on his own home. He is a father of two and lives in Avalon.

  • Dan Magill - Stite Manager

    Dan (or Gilly) is a gentle giant with a strong work ethic who started his career with KRBS in 2008 as an apprentice carpenter. Having worked his way up to his current role, Dan is an accomplished builder whose strong analytical and communication skills ensure that the building process is a positive experience. Clients love Dan’s calm, unflappable, can-do approach. Born and bred on the Northern Beaches, Dan is happily married and enjoys working on his cars and family projects.

  • Jack Tye - Carpenter

    Jack joined us in early 2023 and quickly became a capable & dependable member of the team. Jack’s positively contributes to the culture of KRBS by nurturing and guiding our apprentices and is our very own in-house random fun fact generator.


  • Jake Kirk - Carpenter

    Jake joined the team in early 2025, bringing with him a strong foundation in carpentry gained through a diverse apprenticeship with several experienced builders. His background includes everything from detailed high-end residential work to large-scale deck construction, giving him a broad skillset and a sharp eye for quality finishes. Currently studying engineering at university, Jake combines practical experience with technical knowledge, making him a valuable asset on challenging projects. When he’s not on the tools or in the books, he’s likely catching waves on his bodyboard or cheering on the Sydney Roosters.


  • Tess Masters - Apprentice Carpenter

    Having grown up in Mona Vale in a tradie household, Tess is a 3rd year apprentice carpenter whose enthusiasm for building often sees her honing her skills on the weekends as well. Tess also enjoys the beach, working on cars and getting away on weekends as often as she can.

  • James Cason - Apprentice Carpenter

    As a 1st year adult apprentice carpenter, James has the advantage of having completed a Bachelor of Construction Project Management and worked in a project management role for a couple of years before deciding that he was better suited to hands-on role. Living in Mona Vale with his wife, James enjoys surfing, CrossFit and a mentor role as a youth group leader at his church.

  • Nick Vladislavic - Apprentice Carpenter

    After a successful career in project management within the finance sector, Nick discovered that his true passion lay elsewhere—on the tools. What started as a weekend hobby of fixing and building quickly grew into a full-blown career shift. Swapping spreadsheets for site plans, he’s now immersed in the world of construction, bringing with him a keen eye for detail, a love of hands-on work, and a drive to deliver quality results. Nick is passionate about learning new skills and takes pride in turning his ideas into tangible outcomes on-site. His background in project management gives him a unique edge when it comes to planning and execution, while his enthusiasm for building keeps him energised every day.

  • Jen Hopkins - Office Manager/Accounts

    Meet our “Business Mum”, Jen who continues to refine KRBS’ administrative systems & processes to bring efficiencies to the business and to increase the team’s productivity. Jen is often the first point of contact for new clients, and then once a project is up and running, has weekly contact with clients and manages written variations, invoicing and budget tracking updates to ensure that clients are across the numbers and all aspects of their project admin. A mum to three teenage sons, Jen loves camping with friends, cooking and pilates.
